Sushi Pizza Hamantaschen
I was eating sushi pizza (crispy fried rice topped with spicy tuna and avocado) and thought they looked similar to hamantaschen (hamantaschen are shaped like triangles and sushi pizza is basically a triangle cut in half to make it easier to eat) and decided they would make a fantastic appetizer to serve on Purim. I don’t like to fry things and if I am completely honest I was feeling wiped out from all of my hamantaschen creations (taco hamantaschen, egg roll hamantaschen, funfetti cheesecake hamantaschen, pop tart hamantaschen, chocolate pretzel hamantaschen etc) I did not want to cook one more thing. I just wanted to eat it! So I called up my favorite Sushi spot in LA (Meshuga 4 Sushi) and asked if they would cook it for me. I got the chance to get in the kitchen and watch Moshe from Meshuga 4 Sushi cook these delicious sushi pizza hamantaschen. He topped some with spicy tuna and a few others with cajun grilled salmon combined with spicy guacamole and they were incredible! While sushi pizza is on their menu year round, the hamantaschen pizza are available to order for Purim. If you don’t live in L.A. you can cook these bad boys up yourself by buying this Sushi Mold (Triangle, White) to create the triangle rice and then fry it up in a pan (you can deep fry or lightly fry up all the sides) then top the crispy rice with spicy tuna, kani, or avocado and your favorite sushi toppings! Stay tuned for a video showing you how the pro did it!
