Easy No Fuss Hamantaschen Dough
This is the best hamantaschen dough I have ever eaten. It’s a sweet sugar cookie like dough that you can stuff with any of your favorite fillings. Jam, chocolate spread, cookie butter, cheesecake, halva, custard, and lemon filling are just a few of the delicious flavors you can use for the filling. Simple easy hamantaschen dough for everyone to enjoy on Purim.
Servings: about 18 hamantashen
Ingredients:
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 1/2 cups flour
Jam, chocolate spread or desired filling
Directions:
1. Cream together sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla.
2. Slowly add flour and baking powder. Mix together. The dough might be crumbly, use your hands to smooth it out and combine it.
3. Roll out dough on floured surface (about 1/4 to 1/8 thick. Not too thick since then the circles are hard to shape and will open up. Not too thin since then it will rip when shaping or filling)
4. Cut out circles using a large circle cookie cutter or the rim of a large glass cup or mason jar.
5. Fill center of circle with desired filling (about 1 teaspoon)
6. Form a triangle by folding one side over, then the other and bring the bottom up. Pinch sides down.
7. Bake on 350′ for 12 to 15 minutes depending on how soft or crispy you want them. I like them super soft so I bake them for about 12 minutes.
How To Shape Hamantashen: Place filling in center than slowly fold over one side. Then the next and finally bring the bottom on top. Gently pinch the corners. You can also simply bring up the sides, forming a triangle by pinching the corners together.

I made these for Purim and they were absolutely delicious! And, easy, too! I can’t wait to make more next year. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
So glad you liked the recipe!
My daughter asked me to bake hamantashan. I tried this recipe so easy with beautiful results. Served them on shabbos to teenagers there was not one leftover :)
I’ve been looking for a recipe for hamentaschen that don’t flatten and/or fall apart in the oven for YEARS and I finally found it! This recipe was super easy and the shape held nicely in the oven. I doubled the recipe and they were still gone within minutes of making them! Thanks for the amazing recipe :)
My first time making hamantaschen for Purim. I was nervous, because I wanted them to be as good as the ones we used to get at Liss’ bakery in Philadelphia – so I made my husband taste one first.(ha ha)
They were perfect and my intimidation was for naught. They were easy!
The congregation loved them too!
Thank you.
Hi Cheryl! I am so happy you and the congregation loved them! Happy Purim!
What kind of flower did you use? All purpose or Self rising – maybe something else? Thank you and excited to try them.
Hi I use all purpose flour when baking. Hope you enjoy the recipe!

these were perfect – even my shiksa self was able to make them! :)
So so happy you liked the recipe!
These were delicious! Thanks! I made the dough for a class (on holidays and festivals) and the kids helped roll the dough, then cut and made their cookies. It was a hit! Then they all got dressed up in costumes and I told them the story of Esther, and they ate their Hamantaschen! Purim success for a bunch of non-Jewish folk!
I am so happy the kids enjoyed it! Sounds like they had a great time!
For a first timer these were easy and really good. I also made chocolate ones by adding 2TBSP if coco powder to the flour. I used raspberry filling for these. They turned out delicious! I will definitely be making these again.
hi, just wondering if these can be frozen once baked?
Yes they freeze well. Enjoy!
They are delicious – I am a 71 year old grandfather who had nothing to do during Covid somI decided to make my grandkids hamantashen. One question, why do some of mine open in the oven – I use an egg wash
I use it all around
