Beef Roll
Ingredients:
1 frozen puff pastry sheet
1 lb ground beef
Canola oil
1 packet of taco seasoning mix
Olive oil
Margarine
1 large onion, chopped
2 (4 oz) cans of sliced mushrooms, drained (OPTIONAL)
3 TBSP flour
Salt and pepper
1 TBSP white or red wine
Egg or egg substitute for basting roll
Sesame seeds
Directions:
Take puff pastry sheet out of freezer and let thaw on counter for about 20 – 30 minutes. Meanwhile, brown the ground beef in a little bit of canola oil in a pot and pour in a taco seasoning packet and follow directions on the packet. In a different pan, saute a large chopped onion in olive oil and a little bit of margarine over medium heat, covered. When chopped onion is golden, add in the browned beef and flour and mix a bit. Then add in sliced mushroom (if using), salt, pepper, and wine and cook for 3 minutes, uncovered. Stretch the pastry sheet out a bit to make it longer and wider. Put it in a greased 9 x 13 pan. Pour beef mixture down the center of the pastry sheet and press flaps on top to close. Flip roll onto cookie sheet so that the flaps are on the bottom side. Baste with egg and sprinkle on sesame seeds. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or so or until golden.
